Coach 2

Course purpose

Coach 2 carries responsibility for developing advanced skydiving skills. The course builds on Coach 1 and evaluates coaching, skydiving and equipment skills, technical knowledge and professionalism.

Prerequisites

• Coach 1 certified
• Active CSPA C Certificate of Proficiency (CoP)
• Observation of a Coach 2 at a drop zone
• Willingness to learn and professionally represent skydiving

Candidates who do not meet prerequisites cannot continue in the course.

Course format

Plan for three full days. Timing depends on drop zone logistics, weather, candidate progress and effective time management. Some days may run late.

Arrive prepared and on time, with equipment ready and parachutes packed where required. Complete drop zone check-in and waivers in advance where possible. Bring food, use downtime for lesson planning and preparation, and help with packing when needed.

Bring digital or paper copies of:

• Coach 1/2 Reference Manual
• Coach 2 Workbook
• Parachutist Information Manuals (PIM) 1, 2A and 2B

Preparation

• Review the Coach 1 course content.
• Complete the pre-course tasks in the Coach 2 manual.
• Arrive with confident coaching abilities.

Required formation skydiving (FS) skills include:

• Dock within five seconds or less from a free-flown, tight two-way exit.
• Slide, stay in place and turn in place.
• Break off properly and consistently, with directional control and distance suitable for an eight-way.

Evaluations

Evaluation includes skydiving, coaching and equipment skills, a written test and professionalism. Attitude, willingness to learn, ability to follow directions and preparedness are also assessed.

Plan for eight jump slots: four evaluation jumps with an evaluator to 10,500 feet, payable to the drop zone. The course location must provide an appropriate learning environment.
